ABC College of English Internship Programme

The purpose of Internship Programme is to provide an entry-level portal into our organisation for potential employment and to provide learning and development opportunities. Our programs provide students with an opportunity to gain practical work experience and exposing them to the key aspects of English Language education business. It also provides experience in an English speaking work environment in a multi-cultural setting.

Our internship programmes offer a 24 week placement, with the possibility of extension. Interns are also offered opportunities to attend professional development seminars as part of their internship experience, and may provide housing or housing assistance if needed.

Job Title: Intern – Administration/IT/Reception & Marketing Support

Organisational Setting and Reporting: This internship is located in Queenstown, New Zealand at ABC College of English Ltd

•The internship is for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension.
•The internship is at the minimum wage
•Interns work full-time: 5-7 hours per day (25 hours minimum), five days per week (Monday-Fri- day).

Overview of the position:

The Position of Intern – Marketing and Administration at ABC College of English is a support position designed to give the intern exposure to a working knowledge of the marketing operations and related administration of the College in co-operation with the College Principal & Director.

The Intern is expected to be reliable, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated. He/She is expect-ed to collaborate with all staff and help deliver the highest standards of excellence in all areas.

Remuneration: As per contract

Key Areas of Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Translation of marketing promotional material
  • Participate in creation of marketing collateral to promote the college to international students
  • Management of the distribution of brochures and mail outs to local and offshore agents when required.
  • Assist in the management of agent database
  • Assist in the research of international market trends
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of social media

General Administration:

  • Assisting in the update of database entries for students, home stays and agents.
  • Helping to keep the premises tidy and clean.
  • Weekly mail and banking.
  • Weekly Statistics


• Greeting any visitors to the College in a friendly, welcoming and helpful manner.

• Responding to day-to-day enquiries from current students in a friendly, helpful manner.

Communication and Professionalism

  • All students and staff are treated with respect.
  • High standards of personal presentation are maintained.
  • Cooperation with other staff is demonstrated.
  • Students, agents, parents/caregivers and homestay families are com-municated with, in an effective and professional manner.

Applicants to the ABC College of English internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

(a) Have a second language other than English
(b) Have an intermediate or above level of English Language proficiency;
(c) Show that the internship is part of their career aspirations;
(d) Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have a demonstrated an interest in the edu- cation sector;
(e) Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

•Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme. However, experience in learning or teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language is an advantage.

An intermediate level of fluency in English, both oral and written, is required. Applicant should have a B1+ or above level of English, as determined by the Council of Europe Framework of Reference (CEFR).
